Job Description

EPA 4 Health are looking  for an individual with a experience working within the optical industry. Your role is to independently assess the apprentice, be free from bias and without a conflict of interest. We expect you to be qualified and experienced in the  sector and we will provide comprehensive training to ensure you have all the knowledge, skills and tools to undertake the role with professionalism and integrity. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess the performance of candidates in accordance with the assessment plan, grading criteria and stringently follow procedures to ensure the integrity of standard is assured at all times and are free from bias.
  • Follow the requirements set out in the standard, assessment plan, assessment guidance and use the materials relating to the EPA as guided.
  • Meet the turnaround times within the service-level agreement/contract with regards to planning, operational activities, reports, and submissions of assessment outcomes.
  • Report all risks, issues and concerns encountered during the end-point assessment to EPA 4 Health, including any suspected malpractice/maladministration.
  • Produce EPA reports and associated evidence that is accurate and of high quality.
  • Undertake regular training and standardisation activities, associated with the role and the EPA business.
  • Maintain and provide evidence of ongoing, relevant Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
  • Support EPA 4 Health, if necessary, with any appeals from apprentices, regarding assessment decisions
  • Raise any conflicts of interest timely and to the appropriate person.
  • Take an active role in the ongoing development of EPA 4 Health’s end-point assessment portfolio, ensuring the best service to our customers at all times.
  • Contribute to the external quality assurance activities undertaken by Ofqual.
  • Attend remote initial and ongoing training and standardisation sessions and assessor webinars. 

As a independent assessors you should:

  • Competent to assess the apprentice at this level and hold any required qualifications at level 3 and a minimum of two years experience
  • hold an assessor qualification or willing to work towards one 
  • Understand the occupational standard and the requirements of this EPA
  • Maintain and be able to evidence, up-to-date knowledge and expertise of the subject matter
  • Good time keeping and able to deliver objective within a time period. 
  • Be able to assess different assessment method, as determined by the EPA plan,
  • Good communication and written skills.
