Are you looking to become an End Point Assessor?

End Point Assessors are responsible for assessing an individual’s knowledge, skills and behaviours in relation to an apprenticeship they have completed. End Point Assessors are usually employed by the Assessment Organisation, who is usually the Training Provider or an organisation contracted by the Training Provider.

To become an End Point Assessor, you need to meet a few key criteria.

1. Qualifications.

It is essential that you possess a Level 3 or higher vocational qualification in the same occupational standard that you will be assessing. This qualification should be relevant to the sector in which you are assessing. For example, if you are assessing an engineering apprenticeship, you should have a Level 3 or higher engineering qualification.

2. Experience.

You should also have significant experience in the same vocational area that you are assessing. You must be able to demonstrate that you have a comprehensive understanding of the occupational area and that you have the necessary skills to assess a learner’s performance in that area.

3. Training.

You will also need to gain an End Point Assessor qualification. This course is usually a two-day course and will cover the theory and practice of assessing a learner’s performance. The course will also provide you with the necessary tools and resources to carry out your assessment.

Once you have completed these three steps, you will be ready to become a qualified End Point Assessor. You can then start to apply for roles in the field.

In order to be successful in the role of an End Point Assessor, you will need to have strong communication skills and possess the ability to assess a learner’s performance accurately and fairly. It is also important that you remain up to date with the latest assessment methods and techniques in order to ensure the accuracy and quality of your assessments.

Becoming an End Point Assessor can be a rewarding and challenging career path. With the right qualifications, experience and training, you can become a qualified End Point Assessor and help to shape the future of the apprenticeships you assess.
