Job Description

Would you be interested in supporting the delivery of Technicals examinations in Land-Based Engineering?

We are looking for a Marking Examiner to join us in the development and delivery of assessment in Land-Based Engineering for the Spring 2024 series onwards.

As a Marking Examiner you will:

  • Mark candidates’ scripts in accordance with the agreed marking scheme accurately and consistently, and to the standard and deadlines set by the Chief Examiner/Principal Examiner.
  • Prepare for and participate in standardisation of markers meetings to ensure best practice is adhered to when marking.
  • Submit samples to the Chief Examiner/Principal Examiner at designated times.
  • Report any suspicion of collusion or unfair practice or any evidence of irregularities on the part of candidates or centres to City & Guilds' staff.
  • Review candidates’ marked scripts when requested by City & Guilds.
  • Produce an examiner’s report and submit it within the specified time.
  • Attend Awarding meetings to establish the grade boundaries.

The assessments within the Level 2 and Level 3 Land-Based Engineering qualifications include written short answer papers, multiple choice question papers and assignments. The examination series are twice a year Spring and Summer.

We are looking for examiners to help in the creation of required assessment materials, with ongoing maintenance of the examinations and assignments required when needed.

Training will be provided on assessment material production. Following successful completion of the training, work would be commissioned. You would need to be available to attend all day editing/AMEC meetings. These meetings would be planned in advance.

Maintenance work may be required as and when on an ongoing basis.

Applications will be reviewed on an on-going basis, suitable applicants will be invited to attend training.

When completing your application, it is essential you read the person specification fully, and map your application to show where you meet the requirements set out. Please note applications that do not demonstrate meeting the person specification may be declined or delayed.

We look forward to receiving your application.
